What
We
Do

FAMILY LAW - DIVORCE
CHILD CUSTODY - CHILD SUPPORT

We represent people in the trial and appellate courts of Tennessee and Mississippi in family law matters. We help you resolve conflict related to divorce and child custody and parenting plans. We assist you with issues related to how your children’s lives will be affected by the new family paradigm. We provide representation in division of property, and spousal support (alimony) issues. We also regularly deal with issues that arise after a divorce such as a parent wants to relocate or oppose a relocation of their children, child support matters and custody modifications based on changed circumstances, or issues in Juvenile Court regarding the parental rights and responsibilities pertaining to children of unmarried parties.

ADOPTION
We also handle third party, grandparent and step-parent adoptions, and legal matters associated with assisted reproductive therapies (ART) such as egg donor and gestational carriers. We represent adoptive and biological parents as well.
Mediation

Kim Mullins and Leah Hillis with our firm are experienced, seasoned family mediators helping families reach agreements in mediation on all kinds of conflicts. Mediation is essentially assisted negotiation. A mediator is a trained neutral who works to assist parties in collaborating and generating options for resolution of dispute and helping them get to a resolution. Although mediators are often also lawyers, their function is that of a neutral, and not as a lawyer advocate. For more information about mediation click here.

Probate

We handle the administration of estates and assist those family members and/or friends who’ve lost a loved one to navigate the legal processes necessary to carry out their loved one’s final wishes. We can help those individuals determine if the probate administration is necessary in their situation and guide them through the options available to them during the difficult season of loss.

Retaining
Our
Services

If you are interested in speaking with an attorney about your situation, please call our office at 901.527.2000 to schedule an initial consultation. Consultations are generally charged in one hour increments, and the cost depends on the hourly rate of the attorney.

During the consultation, the attorney will determine an appropriate retainer depending on the facts of your case. Should you decide to move forward with representation, a contract will be signed and the retainer will be due at that time.

Once the attorney has been retained, time spent on your case will be charged in six minute increments (1/10th of an hour), detailed in a monthly invoice, and billed against your retainer until depleted. Upon depletion, the attorney may ask for another retainer or simply provide monthly invoices for payment.

We encourage open dialogue with our clients about attorney fees and billing, as we realize that can be source of anxiety and confusion for those who are not typically in need of an attorney.
