I am a practicing trial lawyer and a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 listed family mediator.

My early legal career involved both civil trial practice and transactional practice. After working as a lawyer for five years, in 1989 I took a one-year sabbatical to travel around the world with my husband. Among our many adventures, we crisscrossed the north and south Islands of New Zealand, snorkeled the Great Barrier reef, visited volcanos and Buddhist temples swarming with monkeys, went to the bullfights (water buffalo that is!) trekked in the Himalayas, and finished up backpacking through Europe.

My fear that our adventure might be considered capricious by my profession never materialized. I returned to my law practice a better person from our travels. I worked for two different law firms during these years and was extremely fortunate to have been mentored by some of the premier lawyers in our city.

I was appointed by the Tennessee Supreme Court to serve on the Tennessee Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission and helped to draft the original rule allowing for court-ordered mediation in our State. I serve on the Board of Directors of an organization that is working to build a community mediation center that can offer free and reduced rate mediations for people who otherwise couldn’t afford or wouldn’t have access to dispute resolution help.

I have produced and spoken at numerous continuing legal education programs and was selected for membership in the Memphis Bar Foundation and enjoy an “AV” rating by my peers in Martindale Hubbell.

I have been active in the Family Law Section of the Memphis, Tennessee, and American Bar Associations. I have chaired the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the Memphis Bar Association several times.

I am a lifelong Memphian, attended St. Mary’s Episcopal School, Emory University, and University of Georgia School of Law. I am married to the same great man for the last 29 years and have two children who are nearly grown. I am a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and love to sing in the choir and in the Memphis Chamber Choir.

I have been elected twice to the vestry and served as Junior and Senior Warden of the Vestry which manages the business aspects of St. John’s.

I coach a fantastic, hard-working (and award-winning!) high school mock trial team. I am also a proud Board Member of Theatre Memphis.

I greatly value that my primary referral source for new clients are current and former clients. I work hard to serve my clients with personal attention and commitment to the client’s particular needs and the needs of his or her respective family. I use my experience and training to being a light to help clients navigate a path in times of profound changes. I believe in exercising my professional responsibilities to the highest standard. I am fortunate to practice law with other lawyers who are likewise inclined.
